I've found myself lately, maybe more than any time in my life, saying "I don't know." That's not an easy admission for me. My male stubbornness, the fear of being embarrassed, or perceived as ignorant, brings about a temptation. What is that temptation? TO ATTEMPT TO KNOW IT ALL!
We are living in a know it all culture, everyone is an expert on all things. Don't believe me. Turn on talk radio, listen to work place chatter, read the newspaper, and for sure-fire evidence--take a swipe down any social media platform! People opine on constitutional law, explain how school district's should educate students, the coach should have played the game, the doctor should treat the disease, even how road construction could have been done more efficiently. You name the topic, and there will be no few 'experts' to guide you.
I read a statement that said "Arrogance pretends it knows, humility shows up to learn."
Let us say a prayer, asking God to remind us often that He lifts up the humble...
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. James 4:10
Don't be a know-it-all, we already have enough of them.
